Positions and Descriptions:
Warehouseman (4)
Job Specifications: Responsible for reading freight manifest, bill of ladings, customer order, shipping order, or freight requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Sorts and places freight or items on trailers or in storage area according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, destination or product code. Sorts and stores perishable goods in refrigerated rooms. Assemble customer orders and place orders on pallets or other shipping method. Marks material with identifying information per company protocol and/or work instruction. Documents overages, shortages, and damaged freight. Responsible for maintaining a clean, neat and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse, by being aware and reporting any suspicious or unusual happenings or personnel in the warehouse or on company premises. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety in accordance with OSHA and MSDS Standards.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to handle; reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Hours of Service: Minimum of 40 hours per week or as needed to complete the job.
Educational Requirements: Must posses a high school diploma. Specific training as needed.
Other Requirements: Must be able to work in fast pace, sometimes stressful, environment. Must be able to communicate, receive and understand instructions. Must have prior forklift experience and complete Forklift Certification and Hazardous Materials Training. Steel-toed boots are required. Must follow all rules and work procedures for department.
Trailer Mechanic - 2nd Shift
Job Specifications: Perform a wide variety of repairs, installations, replacements, preventative measures and diagnostic tasks for various makes and models of semi-trailers including scheduled maintenance, DOT inspections, air brake systems, foundation brakes, electrical wiring, light repairs, swing door repairs, roll door repairs, leg repairs, floor repairs, suspension repairs, body repairs, welding and fabrication.
This includes:
Test-driving, diagnosing and determining whether to repair or replace based on useful life of equipment and documenting same.
Also required to follow security procedures to safeguard vehicles, tools and parts.
Diagnoses the source of the trouble and determines the extent of repairs required.
Completes paperwork associated with inspecting and repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage and accounts for applied times
Performs minor repairs and other preventive maintenance on a regular basis.
Replaces worn or broken parts and assemblies as needed.
Keeps abreast of all new industry developments and vehicle maintenance techniques.
Lifts, positions, removes and replaces heavy items (80 pounds or more) on a regular basis.
Works in an area subject to wide variations in temperature, humidity, and may be required to work on vehicles outside in all weather conditions.
Provides all personal tools common to the trade.
Maintains cleanliness of the work shop area and assures the neat appearance of fleet vehicles.
Must present a professional, highly motivated, positive, results oriented, problem solving attitude.
Must have good communication skills.
Must be able to work independently in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Must have own hand tools.
Basic computer skills needed for order entry, job costing and time tracking
Educational Requirements: Must have completed High School and be able to demonstrate knowledge in equipment’s mechanical functions and pertinent DOT regulations. Prefer 1 – 2 years of experience working in a mechanical setting.
Hours of Service: Average 40 hours per week plus additional hours as needed.
Physical Requirements: Physically capable to enter, exit and operate the hand and foot controls of tractor cab. Must be able to climb in and under trailers and other equipment. Also able to work in areas subject to wide variations in temperature, humidity, and may be required to work on vehicles outside in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift, position, remove and replace items (80 pounds or more) on a regular basis.
Other Requirements: Must maintain all appropriate licenses and certifications, keep abreast of all new industry developments and vehicle maintenance techniques. Must be able to work in a fast paced, sometimes stressful environment while demonstrating “teamwork” with people of various personality traits.
Straight Truck Drivers (5)
SUMMARY:
Safe and effective operation of straight trucks to pick up and deliver LTL shipments according to dispatch and customer service.
Job Specifications:
Ensures professional operation of straight truck in city and short-haul according to dispatch and customer service instructions. Has ultimate responsibility to the Director of Operations.
Supervises and assists in safe loading/unloading of shipments. Verifies shipment accuracy, condition and documents the shipment transaction using proper paperwork. Uses various material handling equipment to move and secure freight.
Complies with federal/state/local laws, company and customer policies. Complies with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (D.O.T.).
Completes required company paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Enters accurate data into the on-board computer system.
Performs daily vehicle inspections and reports defects to maintenance. Inspects assigned vehicles for new damage and reports to Safety Department. Maintains vehicle fluid levels, performs minor maintenance and keeps assigned units clean.
Participates in on-going training within operations, performance and safety.
Develops sufficient knowledge of operations to provide customers with basic service support. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with customers and fellow employees.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Able to read, write and speak English with sufficient skill to perform essential duties. Capable of basic computer data entry.
Forklift and freight handling experience is highly required.
Maintains working personal phone to facilitate company/employee communication.
Possess excellent customer service skills and focus. Projects professional driver image and skills. Works and communicates as a valued team member.
LICENSES: Possess valid CDL-B with Air Brakes and Hazardous Materials endorsements and qualified under D.O.T. regulations. Must meet company standards for straight truck experience in all seasons/terrain with no more than four (4) points on MVR. No DUI’s or DWI’s within last (5) years and no felony convictions.
PHYSICAL DEMAND: Medically and physically qualified by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Physically capable of heavy manual labor including lifting up to seventy (70) lb. on a continuous basis. Must be physically capable to enter and exit a truck cab, operate the hand and foot controls required to operate the equipment, and climb into and alight from trailer.
Class A Truck Drivers (5)
Job Specifications: Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of any motor vehicle assigned, including, but not limited to, tractor-trailer combination or straight truck. Responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and picking up of freight as directed by the Dispatch Department. Handling freight may involve moderate to heavy lifting effort. Communicating and working with customers and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Physical Requirements: Medically and physically qualified by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Capable of lifting 100lb packages on a continuous schedule. Must be physically capable to enter and exit a truck cab, operate the had and foot control required to operate the equipment, and climb into and alight from trailer.
Hours of Service: As governed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Must be available to work odd hours of the day and ne away from home for extended period of time.
Other Requirements: Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no Air Brake Restrictions and Hazardous Material (H) or (X) endorsement preferred. Must be able to read and write English sufficiently to read road signs, instructions and be able to complete required paperwork related to the requirements of the job. Must maintain either a working telephone at their place of residence or a working personal pager.
Grease Mechanic
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Responsible for the routine periodic maintenance, inspection and minor repair of equipment in compliance with Company, State and Federal policies, procedures and regulations.
This includes:
Checking vehicle's fluids levels taking samples and adding when necessary
Following maintenance schedule for fluid changes based on mileage
Tests all warning devices, brakes, heater, lights, clutch, wipers, warning lights, defroster, radio etc.
Checks all safety equipment, window lifts, door locks, vehicle permits, registration, inspection stickers, lights/lamps, plugs, holders, hoses, springs, shocks, systems to ensure proper working order or replacement needs
Inspects brakes, drive lines, joints, wiring, air lines, Putnam arm, steering assembly, lines, fittings etc.
Completes paperwork associated with inspecting and repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage and accounts for applied times
Follows all safety policies and procedures
Keeps abreast of all new industry developments and vehicle maintenance techniques.
Lifts, positions, removes and replaces heavy items (80 pounds or more) on a regular basis.
Works in an area subject to wide variations in temperature, humidity, and may be required to work on vehicles outside in all weather conditions.
